Came in to have a tire swapped out on my truck after having a blowout. While I was in there I asked if an oil change could be done as well. I was told "it would be easier on the mechanic if you didnt" apparently it's too much work and too time consuming to do an oil change and swap a tire at the same time while the truck is up on a lift... On top of that, after they worked so hard to change one tire, they couldn't even put the spare back under my truck while it was up on the lift. Is it really that much to ask, to do the job your paid to do, while your being paid to do it??
After the state college loacation was a disaster. I tri d a new location while traveling. Long wait to get service for a tire I purchased with the road hazard warranty. It’s not worth your time with pep boys please I beg you stay away. I am still waiting now after my truck was supposed to be done. 3 plus hours with a toddler and counting. The waiting room is dirty but let’s not forget the bathroom that was dirtier then a portapotty after a Steelers game. I had never seen a bathroom that bad at a business. I don’t think it was cleaned for months. I thought coming to a different store would have been better I guessed wrong. Don’t fall into the same trap get will lure you in and then you’ll wish you never went to pep boys.
They have terrible customer service. They think that just because they have some basic knowledge of a vehicle they can just charge you whatever they want. When i needed an alignment for my car they told me they couldnt do it because of tie rod damage. They didnt explain why or how they were going to fix it it. They quoted me $450 for the total. Then didnt back up their thoughts. Their communication was the worst ive ever had. Also they always argue with the customer and always believe their opinions are the best and only option availabe when it really isnt (i have car background knowledge). Finally the last time i went for service they damaged my front end. The driver that brought my car out parked to far forward and got my lower bumper stuck on the curb. It ended up breaking off when i backed out without me realizing. I can see how they really screw over customers that dont have too much car knowledge.
Seem to be pretty fast and friendly. Got my tires balanced here.
You really need to negotiate with them. Just tell them you can do the work somewhere else 30% cheaper and they will match the price. Long wait not well organized, but good at the end.
